About Grant Data
State grants data are collected from the Community Resources Information System (CRIS), NC Grants (formerly called the Grants Information Center (GIC)), and the North Carolina Accounting System (NCAS).
Many types of state grants and assistance are described in CRIS, including grants, loans, direct payments, services, training, and other programs. Information on more than 400 of these programs is searchable by agency, agency location and by keyword.
For each program in CRIS, data on individual awards and disbursements are available from theNCGrants.gov database. This database is searchable by state funding agency and grantee name and location. The amount of the individual disbursement is provided for each grant. Information on disbursements to individual grantees is reconciled between agency or grantee reports and payments recorded in the NCAS system.
At present, the grant information available in NC OpenBook focuses on grants to the non governmental entities. Future enhancements will include expanded coverage of grants to government organizations.
